Adenomatoid odontogenic tumor: A series of four clinico-pathological variants

چکیده
Introduction: Adenomatoid odontogenic tumor since years has been a subject for diligent research by Oral Medicine and Radiologists and Oral Pathologists in the past. Adenomatoid odontogenic tumor is a benign hamartomatous slow growing neoplasm of epithelial origin composed of odontogenic epithelium in a variety of histoarchitectural patterns, embedded in a mature connective tissue stroma and characterized by slow but progressive growth. Case Series: Herein, we have discussed a case series of four cases of follicular adenomatoid odontogenic tumors in the maxilla, illustrating the diverse clinical, microscopic and biological features of the tumor. Conclusion: Several updates and data available have grouped adenomatoid odontogenic tumor into different areas of classifications of odontogenic group of tumors. Histological evidences have been put forth by several authors by denoting the histogenesis of each cell type that an inductive influence process does indeed occur in adenomatoid odontogenic tumor. Through this case series we have emphasized the importance of the relation between the dental follicle and the tumor tissue in the origin and histogenesis of this vital odontogenic lesion. Extrafollicular Cystic Adenomatoid Odontogenic Tumor of the Maxilla: a Rare Challenging Case Report with Review of the Literature
Adenomatoid odontogenic tumor is a non-aggressive slow growing epithelial odontogenic tumor with varied clinical and microscopic features. This neoplasm rarely appears as a completely cystic lesion histopathologically; therefore, oral pathologists should be aware of the various histopathologic types of this lesion. The main objective of this case report is to present a rare challenging case o...

It commonly occurs in anterior region of maxilla associated with an impacted tooth. Multifocal odontogenic lesions are uncommon and have only been observed in conditions associated with known genetic mutations. To...
متن کاملCurrent Concepts and Occurrence of Epithelial Odontogenic Tumors: I. Ameloblastoma and Adenomatoid Odontogenic Tumor
Ameloblastomas and adenomatoid odontogenic tumors (AOTs) are common epithelial tumors of odontogenic origin. Ameloblastomas are clinico-pathologically classified into solid/multicystic, unicystic, desmoplastic, and peripheral types, and also divided into follicular, plexiform, acanthomatous, granular types, etc., based on their histological features. Craniopharyngiomas, derived from the remnant...

BACKGROUND The purpose of the study was to correlate the provisional diagnosis of pericoronal radiolucencies associated with impacted, embedded, or unerupted teeth with the histopathologic diagnosis, and also to emphasize the importance of early detection for better diagnosis and management. METHODS This is a retrospective study involving 18 cases of pericoronal radiolucencies associated with...
